Automatic saving

Sparenab 9 J.
Saving on autopilot: standing orders, savings plans and round-up rules – money is put aside automatically without you having to think about it every month.

Automatic saving uses the power of habit: set it up once, then it runs by itself. No thinking about it every month, no forgetting, no temptation to spend the money after all.

Methods:

✅ Standing order: a fixed amount at the start of the month into overnight money/securities account
✅ ETF savings plan: automatic investment every month
✅ Rounding up: some banking apps round up every purchase and save the difference
✅ Pocket money rule: children can also automatically "save" a fixed part of their pocket money

Why it works: behavioural economists call it "default bias" – we tend to take the pre-set path. If saving is the default, you save automatically.

Did you know? Studies show that automatic saving increases the savings rate by 73% on average – simply because you don't have to make an active decision every month.
