Cashback

Konsumab 5 J.
Money back when you shop: certain credit cards, apps or portals give you 1–10% of the purchase price as cashback. Worth it as long as you don't buy more just because of it.

Cashback means you get part of the purchase price back. It works via cashback credit cards, apps or portals.

Cashback sources (Germany):

• Credit cards: Amazon Visa (0.5–3%), Barclays (1%)
• Apps: Payback (1–2%), Deutschland Card
• Portals: Shoop.de (up to 15%), iGraal, TopCashback
• Banking apps: some neobanks offer automatic cashback

Warning: cashback is only worthwhile for purchases you would have made anyway. Anyone who spends €200 because of 5% cashback hasn't saved €10 – they've spent €190.

Did you know? Payback, Germany's loyalty programme, has 31 million members. Careful: cashback often tempts you into unnecessary purchases – spending €100 to get €5 back means losing €95.
