Day trading

BörseErwachsene
Buying and selling shares on the same day to profit from small price movements. Studies show that more than 90% of day traders lose money in the long run.

Day trading means buying and selling securities within a single trading day. The aim: to profit from tiny price fluctuations (often only 0.1–1%).

The hard truth: studies by the University of California and Brazilian researchers consistently show: over 90% of day traders lose money in the long run. Only 1–3% make lasting profits – and even they often earn less than a normal employee.

Why do so many lose?

• Transaction costs eat up profits
• Emotional decisions (panic, greed)
• Algorithms are faster than humans
• Taxes on every single gain

Conclusion: day trading isn't investing – it's speculation, comparable to gambling. For sustainable wealth building: an ETF savings plan instead of day trading.

Did you know? A 2019 Brazilian study examined 20,000 day traders. Result: 97% lost money. Of the 3% who made a profit, half earned less than the minimum wage.
