Comparing securities accounts

Investierenab 9 J.
Which account is cheapest? Neobrokers (€0–1/trade) vs. direct banks (€4–10) vs. branch banks (€15–30). For ETF savers, what counts is free savings plans.

How to find the best securities account (Germany):

For ETF savings plan investors (90% of all investors):

The most important thing: free ETF savings plans. If the savings plan is free, the order fee hardly matters.

Top accounts (2026):

• Trade Republic: €0 custody fee, €1/order, all savings plans free, 2% interest on cash balances
• Scalable Capital: €0 account (Free), €0.99/order, savings plans free
• ING: €0 account, €4.90+0.25%/order, ETF savings plans from €1 free
• comdirect: €0 account (3 years), ETF savings plans free

For active traders: neo-brokers (Trade Republic, Scalable) are the cheapest. For "everything from one source": direct banks (ING, comdirect) offer securities account + current account + overnight money.

Also check: fractional shares possible? (important for expensive ETFs), automatic tax report?, junior account available?

Did you know? The number of securities accounts in Germany has doubled since 2019 – from 9 to more than 18 million. The main driver: neobrokers with their free savings plans.
