How to save tax with tradespeople's services (Germany):

You can deduct 20% of the labour costs (not material costs!) directly from your tax bill – up to €1,200 per year.

What counts:

✅ Painting and wallpapering
✅ Plumbing and heating work
✅ Renovation (bathroom, kitchen, floors)
✅ Garden work by a specialist firm
✅ Chimney sweep

Example: the painter invoices €3,000 in labour costs. 20% of that = €600 in direct tax savings. You effectively pay only €2,400.

Requirement: the invoice must show labour and material costs separately. Payment by bank transfer (NOT cash!).

Did you know? 20% of labour costs for tradespeople can be deducted directly from your tax liability – up to €1,200 a year. Materials do NOT count, ONLY labour.
