School trip budget

The first real budgeting experience: how much pocket money do I need for the school trip? Souvenirs, ice cream, entrance fees – plan, divide, enjoy.
How to plan the school trip budget:
Step 1: set the budget. How much pocket money can they take? Typical: €20–50 for 3–5 days.
Step 2: plan the spending.
• Ice cream and snacks: approx. €3/day
• Souvenirs: €5–10 (postcards, key rings)
• Admission/extras: depending on the programme
• Reserve for the unexpected: €5
Step 3: divide it up per day. Total budget ÷ days = daily budget. "I can spend about €8 a day."
Tip: split the money into different envelopes – one per day. If one day was thrifty, more can be spent the next day.
Did you know? A school trip in Germany costs €200–500 (primary school) or €300–800 (secondary). For families in financial need, the costs are covered in full by the education package.
