Lemonade stand

Kinderab 5 J.
Children's first “business”: a lemonade stand teaches buying supplies, pricing, selling, customer service and the value of work – all in one afternoon.

How to set up a lemonade stand:

Materials:

• Lemons, sugar, water, ice, cups (cost: approx. €5–10)
• Table, sign, price tag
• Cash box (a tin or box with change)

What children learn:

✅ Shopping: what do the ingredients cost? Go shopping together
✅ Pricing: how much does it cost to make a glass of lemonade? How much can we sell it for?
✅ Profit: income minus expenses = profit ("Your first business!")
✅ Customer service: be friendly, give change, say "thank you"
✅ Value of work: "You worked 3 hours for €15 profit – how does that feel?"

Tip: take photos and put together a little "business report": income, expenses, profit. First bookkeeping!

Did you know? Warren Buffett, the world's most successful investor, had his first business success at age 6: he bought 6 bottles of Coke for 25 cents and sold them individually for 5 cents each – profit: 5 cents.
