Market capitalisation

Börseab 13 J.
The total value of all a company's shares: share price × number of shares. With more than $3 trillion, Apple is the most valuable company in the world.

Market capitalisation (market cap) shows a company's stock market value: the current share price multiplied by the total number of shares issued.

Size categories:

• Mega cap: over $200 billion (Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA)
• Large cap: $10–200 billion (SAP, Siemens, Adidas)
• Mid cap: $2–10 billion (MDAX companies)
• Small cap: $300 million–2 billion (SDAX)
• Micro/nano cap: under $300 million

Top 5 worldwide (2026): Apple (~3.5 trillion), Microsoft (~3.2 trillion), NVIDIA (~2.8 trillion), Amazon (~2.1 trillion), Alphabet/Google (~2.0 trillion).

Did you know? Apple's market capitalisation (over $3 trillion) is larger than the GDP of most countries – larger than the entire economic output of France or the United Kingdom.
