Improving your Schufa score

Krediteab 9 J.
How to improve your Schufa score: pay bills on time, close old unnecessary accounts/cards, check your Schufa report and have incorrect entries deleted.

How to get the best Schufa score (Germany):

What IMPROVES your score:

✅ Always pay bills on time (the most important factor!)
✅ Few, long-standing bank relationships (show stability)
✅ Have a credit card and pay it on time (shows ability to pay)
✅ Repay loans properly

What WORSENS your score:

❌ Reminders and debt collection entries
❌ Many credit enquiries in a short time (looks desperate)
❌ Frequent switching of bank accounts
❌ Many credit cards (increases the theoretical credit risk)

Immediate measures:

1. Request a free Schufa data copy (meineschufa.de, free once a year)
2. Dispute incorrect entries (happens more often than you think!)
3. Have expired negative entries deleted (possible after 3 years)
4. Cancel unnecessary credit cards and accounts
5. No "trial" credit enquiries – always choose "conditions enquiry" (doesn't harm your score)

Did you know? About 10–15% of all Schufa entries are wrong. It's worth checking the free data copy at least once a year and having incorrect entries corrected.
