Employee savings bonus (Arbeitnehmersparzulage)
Jugendab 9 J.
A state bonus in Germany on capital-forming benefits: 20% on fund savings (max. €80/year) or 9% on building society contracts (max. €43/year). Free money from the state!
The Arbeitnehmersparzulage (employee savings allowance) is a state bonus on your capital-forming benefits (VL) in Germany. The state adds money on top – just like that, as a reward for saving.
Two variants:
• Fund savings (ETF/equity fund): 20% allowance on max. €400/year = €80 for free
• Home savings contract: 9% on max. €470/year = €43 for free
Both can be combined! You can have both a fund savings plan and a home savings contract and receive both allowances at the same time.
Income limit (2026): €40,000 (single) or €80,000 (married) taxable income. Career starters almost always fall below it.
Did you know? The employee savings bonus is 20% on up to €400 a year = up to €80 of free money from the state. Around 8 million eligible people do NOT use it.
