ESG criteria

Nachhaltigkeitab 13 J.
Environmental, Social, Governance: criteria for assessing sustainable investments. How environmentally friendly, social and well-managed is a company?

ESG stands for three dimensions of sustainable business:

E – Environmental: CO2 emissions, energy consumption, waste management, water consumption. How environmentally friendly is the company?

S – Social: working conditions, human rights, diversity, supply chains. How does the company treat people?

G – Governance (corporate management): transparency, anti-corruption, remuneration, shareholder rights. How well is the company run?

For investors: there are ESG ETFs that only invest in companies with high ESG ratings. Example: MSCI World ESG Screened – the same return as the normal MSCI World, but without arms, coal and tobacco.

Did you know? More than 50% of all newly invested money in Europe now flows into ESG-compliant funds. Sustainable investing is no longer a niche topic.
