Financial knowledge as a basic right
Financial education determines quality of life, freedom and equal opportunities – and must not be a privilege.
Why financial knowledge should be a basic right:
• According to the OECD, 38% of 15-year-olds lack basic financial literacy
• At school we learn to analyse poems and sketch curves – but not how to do a tax return or what an ETF is
• The consequences: debt, old-age poverty, missed opportunities, financial anxiety
• Particularly affected: children from families without financial education. The cycle repeats across generations
What needs to change:
✅ Financial education as a school subject (already introduced in Baden-Württemberg!)
✅ Free resources for all (SaveFoxy: 60 modules, 240 lessons, 16 calculators, a finance glossary – all free)
✅ Parents as role models (talk openly about money, give pocket money early)
✅ Politics: early start pension, finance lessons, better consumer education
Our vision at SaveFoxy:
Every child deserves the chance to develop a healthy relationship with money early on. That's why SaveFoxy is completely free – no paywall, no ads, no in-app purchases. Financial education for everyone – not just for those who can afford it.
