Finfluencer

Trendsab 5 J.
Finance influencers on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram who talk about money, ETFs and saving. Some are serious (e.g. Finanztip, Finanzfluss in Germany), some dangerous (crypto scammers). Here's how to tell them apart.

Finfluencers (finance + influencer) are content creators who talk about money on social media.

Reputable finfluencers in Germany:

✅ Finanzfluss (Thomas Kehl): 1.2+ million subscribers, factual, ETF-focused
✅ Finanztip: non-profit(!), independent, evidence-based
✅ Saidi (Finanztip): easy to understand, practical, scientifically sound
✅ Finanzwesir (Albert Warnecke): experienced, thoughtful, for advanced learners

Warning signs of dubious finfluencers:

❌ Promises "get rich quick"
❌ Promotes individual crypto coins or penny stocks
❌ Shows luxury cars and watches as "proof"
❌ Sells "exclusive" courses for €500–5,000
❌ No disclosure of partnerships/advertising

Golden rule: if a finfluencer recommends a specific product (a particular coin, a particular share), ask yourself: does HE earn money from YOU buying it? Commissions, affiliate links, sponsored posts – they influence the recommendation.

Did you know? According to the 2024 German Banking Association study, finfluencers are NOT an important source of financial information for 77% of under-30s – even though they're everywhere on social media. Family and friends are trusted far more.
