IBAN

Sparenab 9 J.
International Bank Account Number – the international account number that uniquely identifies every bank account in Europe. In Germany the IBAN has 22 characters.

The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is the unique address of your bank account. Since 2014 it has replaced the former combination of account number and bank sort code in Germany.

Structure of a German IBAN (22 characters): DE (country code) + 2 check digits + 8-digit bank sort code + 10-digit account number. Example: DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 00.

You need the IBAN for every transfer, standing order and direct debit. It's on your bank card, in online banking and on bank statements.

Did you know? The IBAN was introduced to make transfers within Europe as easy as domestic ones. Since 2014 it has been the standard in all SEPA countries.
