MSCI Emerging Markets

Investierenab 13 J.
A stock index for emerging markets: China, India, Brazil, Taiwan, South Korea. More than 1,400 companies. It complements the MSCI World (developed countries) with the fastest-growing economies.

The MSCI Emerging Markets Index comprises over 1,400 companies from 24 emerging markets – the fastest-growing economies in the world.

Top countries in the index:

• China: approx. 25% (Alibaba, Tencent, BYD)
• India: approx. 18% (Reliance, Infosys, HDFC)
• Taiwan: approx. 16% (TSMC – the world's most important chipmaker)
• South Korea: approx. 12% (Samsung, Hyundai, SK Hynix)
• Brazil: approx. 5% (Petrobras, Vale)

Why invest in emerging markets?

✅ Higher growth potential than developed countries
✅ Broader global diversification
✅ Over 85% of the world's population lives in emerging markets

Why riskier: political instability, currency fluctuations, weaker investor protection.

Typical portfolio split: 70% MSCI World + 30% MSCI Emerging Markets. Or: 100% MSCI ACWI (All Country World Index, contains both).

Did you know? TSMC from Taiwan (the largest position in the MSCI Emerging Markets) produces more than 90% of the world's most advanced computer chips. Without TSMC, the global tech industry would come to a standstill.
