Riester subsidy for families

Versicherungab 9 J.
For families with children, Riester is especially attractive: €175 basic allowance + €300 per child = €775/year for free with 2 children. Plus tax savings. Here's how to get the maximum.

Why Riester is particularly great for families:

The allowances:

• Basic allowance: €175/person/year
• Child allowance: €300/child/year (for children born from 2008)
• Career starter bonus: one-off €200 (under 25)

Sample calculation for a family with 2 children:

• Basic allowance mother: €175
• Basic allowance father: €175
• Child allowances: 2 × €300 = €600
• Total: €950 in free allowances per year!

Requirement for the full allowance: pay in 4% of the previous year's gross income (minus the allowances). At least €60/year. With €40,000 gross: 4% = €1,600 minus €950 allowances = only €650 own contribution (approx. €54/month).

That means: you pay in €650 and get €950 on top. A 146% return – without market risk.

Did you know? Millions of Riester savers give away money because they don't adjust their own contribution. If your salary rises, your own contribution must rise too – otherwise you won't get the full bonus.
