Supply chain

Wirtschaftab 9 J.
The path of a product from raw material to customer. COVID and the 2021 Suez Canal incident showed: when the supply chain breaks, factories stop and prices rise.
🇩🇪 The detailed explanation is only available in German so far – help translate it!

Die Supply Chain (Lieferkette) beschreibt den gesamten Weg eines Produkts – von der Gewinnung der Rohstoffe über die Produktion bis zur Lieferung an den Endkunden.

Beispiel iPhone:

• Seltene Erden: Aus Minen in China und Kongo
• Chips: Aus Fabriken in Taiwan (TSMC) und Südkorea (Samsung)
• Display: Aus Japan und Südkorea
• Zusammenbau: In China (Foxconn)
• Transport: Per Schiff nach Europa, per LKW zum Apple Store
• Über 200 Zulieferer in über 40 Ländern!

Warum Supply Chains seit 2020 im Fokus stehen:

• Corona 2020: Fabriken geschlossen, Containerschiffe steckten fest, Chipmangel
• Ever Given 2021: Ein einziges Containerschiff blockierte den Suezkanal 6 Tage – Kosten: 9,6 Mrd. Dollar pro Tag
• Ukraine-Krieg 2022: Weizen- und Energielieferungen unterbrochen
• Folge: Lieferengpässe, steigende Preise, Inflation

Did you know? The container ship “Ever Given” blocked the Suez Canal for 6 days in March 2021. 12% of world trade passes through the canal – the jam affected more than 400 ships and caused delivery delays worldwide for months.
