The Deutschlandticket (also "49-euro ticket") is a monthly subscription for all local public transport in Germany.
What's included?
✅ All buses, trams, underground and suburban trains (U-Bahn, S-Bahn)
✅ Regional trains (RE, RB) – nationwide!
❌ NOT included: ICE, IC, EC (long-distance trains)
❌ NOT included: 1st class
Cost: €49/month (as of 2024, may change). Can be cancelled monthly, as an app or chip card.
Is it worth it? Compare with your previous monthly ticket: in most cities a monthly subscription cost €70–120. Savings: €21–71/month = €252–852/year. A real bargain for commuters.
Did you know? In its first year (2023/24), more than 11 million Deutschlandtickets were sold. According to studies, it has measurably reduced CO2 emissions in transport.
