Instant-access savings (Tagesgeld)

Sparenab 9 J.
A bank account with flexible access and variable interest. Ideal for your emergency fund: the money is available at any time and currently earns 1–3% interest a year.

A Tagesgeld account (overnight money account) is an interest-bearing savings account with no fixed term. You can deposit and withdraw money at any time – there is no notice period. In return you receive interest, which is variable and can change, however.

What is it good for? The overnight money account is the perfect place for your emergency fund and for short-term savings goals. It pays more interest than a current account but is available at any time – unlike a fixed-term deposit.

Current interest rates (2026): between 1.0% and 3.0% per year, depending on the bank. With €10,000 in an overnight money account at 2.5% interest, you get €250 interest per year – without doing anything.

Did you know? Instant-access savings accounts in Germany are protected by statutory deposit protection up to €100,000 per bank and customer. So your money is safe – even if the bank goes bust.
