Umsatzsteuer für Selbstständige – die Basics:

Was ist Umsatzsteuer?

Du berechnest deinen Kunden 19% Umsatzsteuer (USt) auf deine Leistungen und führst sie ans Finanzamt ab. Gleichzeitig bekommst du die Umsatzsteuer (dann „Vorsteuer“ genannt) auf DEINE geschäftlichen Einkäufe vom Finanzamt zurück.

Beispiel:

• Du stellst eine Rechnung: 1.000€ netto + 190€ USt = 1.190€ brutto
• Du kaufst einen Laptop: 1.000€ + 190€ USt = 1.190€
• Du führst ans Finanzamt ab: 190€ (eingenommen) − 190€ (Vorsteuer) = 0€

Umsatzsteuer-Voranmeldung:

• Monatlich oder quartalsweise ans Finanzamt melden
• Über ELSTER (kostenlos) oder per Buchhaltungssoftware
• Frist: 10. des Folgemonats

Kleinunternehmerregelung (§ 19 UStG):

• Unter 22.000€ Umsatz/Jahr: Du musst KEINE Umsatzsteuer berechnen
• Vorteil: Weniger Bürokratie, einfachere Rechnungen
• Nachteil: Du kannst auch keine Vorsteuer abziehen

Did you know? VAT brings the German state more than €290 billion a year – its second-largest source of tax revenue. The reduced rate of 7% applies to food, books and local public transport.
