Revenue vs. profit

Gründerab 5 J.
Revenue = everything that comes in (sales). Profit = what's LEFT after all costs. A company with €1 million in revenue can make €100,000 profit or a €200,000 LOSS.
🇩🇪 The detailed explanation is only available in German so far – help translate it!

Gewinn (Profit):

• Umsatz MINUS alle Kosten (Material, Löhne, Miete, Steuern, Zinsen)
• Beispiel: 50.000€ Umsatz − 45.000€ Kosten = 5.000€ Gewinn
• Das ist, was dem Eigentümer wirklich bleibt

Gewinnmarge:

• Gewinn ÷ Umsatz × 100 = Gewinnmarge (%)
• 5.000 ÷ 50.000 × 100 = 10% Gewinnmarge
• Typische Margen: Supermarkt 1–3%, Software 20–40%, Luxusgüter 50%+

Warum wichtig?

Did you know? From 1994 to 2001 Amazon didn't make a single dollar of profit – despite billions in revenue. Jeff Bezos invested everything in growth. Today Amazon is one of the most profitable companies in the world.
