Early repayment penalty

KrediteErwachsene
The fee if you pay off a loan early. For mortgages often €5,000–30,000. In Germany, after 10 years: free special termination possible (§489 Civil Code).
🇩🇪 The detailed explanation is only available in German so far – help translate it!

Did you know? The 10-year special termination right (§489 Civil Code) is unknown to many German homeowners. Anyone who took out a loan at 2.5% in 2015 has been able to terminate it free of charge since 2025 and refinance on better terms (if rates have fallen) – or renegotiate with the same bank from a stronger position.
